Abstract:

To enable to determine a shift of a compression top dead center by precisely determining the compression top dead center based on ion current detected with an ion current detection means.

The device comprises an ignition timing changing means 41 changing ignition timing of an ignition plug 7 in an advanced side such that a peak point of a latter slope of an ion current waveform is positioned around the compression top dead center, and a determination means 42 detecting the peak point of the latter slope of the ion current waveform with an ion current detection means 33 and determining the compression top dead center based on a crank angle position where the peak appears, when the ignition timing is changed in the advanced side by the ignition timing changing means 41.
