Abstract:
PURPOSE: To extend a card terminal at a low cost even to a register without ay communication function by using a membrane switch employing a transparent electrode sheet as an entry device and covering the switch onto a key entry device of the register.
CONSTITUTION: A shop clerk enters a price of an article purchased by a customer to a register 1 by using a key pad. Simultaneously a membrane switch 3 covered on the key pad of the register 1 inputs information of the purchased article to a card terminal 2 through a communication cable 4, in which number of points depending on the total sum of the purchased articles by a customer is calculated. The shop clerk inserts a point card 5 received from the customer or a point card 5 issued for the customer paying the first visit to this shop to a magnetic card reader/writer 2a of the card terminal 2. The magnetic card reader/writer 2a of the card terminal 2 reads data in the point card 5 and writes sum of the number of points of the read point card 5 and of the number of points calculated from the sum of purchased article prices having been entered before to the point card.
