To eliminate a trouble that rust generated in a fork is deposited onto a cargo to foul the cargo, or that an appearance of a cargo handling device is deteriorated by the rust.
In this cargo handling device wherein a finger board 5 is provided vertically movably in a mast 3 erected in a front part of a body 1 and wherein the fork 6 is attached to the finger board 5, a rust-preventive layer 8 having corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance is formed on a surface of the fork 6, the layer 8 is not separated to expose base metal even when the fork 6 contacts with a floor or the cargo during cargo handling work, and the rust is hardly generated thereby in the fork 6 even when the fork 6 gets wet by a water splash or deposited with salt, to eliminate the trouble that the rust is deposited onto the cargo to foul the cargo, or that the appearance of the cargo handling device is deteriorated by the rust.
