This electric mixing device comprises a gear motor M1, and the gear motor is connected to a main spindle 27 through first gears 40 and 41 and a first shift sleeve 43 so that low-speed forward operation and low-speed gentle stroke can be performed in a high load state. In a low load state, or when high-speed backward operation and high-speed forward operation are performed, the gear motor M1 is connected to the main spindle 27 through second gears 55 and 56, a drive shaft 54 and a second shift sleeve 50. An electromagnet 48 is connected to both the shift sleeves 43 and 50 so that at least one shift sleeve is selectively connectable to the main spindle 27. Such a drive unit is reduced more in cost and noise than the one using two gear motors.
