To obtain small-sized scrap materials which can be used as a cold iron source in its state in an electric furnace or converter without gas cutting in one casting mold for casting molten steel in order to process the molten steel in a ladle when a breakout occurs or a specified heating temperature for casting cannot be secured in a continuous casting facility.
The casting mold which is open at its top and bottom comprises a rectangular flask 1 and a partition 2 which is composed of lateral muntins 2a and longitudinal muntins 2b, can be mounted onto or dismounted from the flask 1 and forms a plurality of compartments 4 inside the flask. The molten steel is poured into each compartment 4 so as to form an ingot to a size which allows the ingot as formed to be used as a scrap source.
