PURPOSE: To improve pouring speed, run, casting plan and yield and to produce castings having less internal defects with high efficiency by providing risers to the upper side faces of the cavities provided on the side faces of a casting mold and interposing stoppers between the risers and a pouring basin.
CONSTITUTION: The risers 5 are provided in the upper side faces of the cavities 3 provided on at least one side faces 2a, 2b of the casting mold and the stoppers 8a are interposed between the risers 5 and the pouring basin 7. The molten metal in the pouring basin 7 is poured at the high pouring speed with good run into the cavities 3 when the stoppers 8a are simultaneously opened. There are no sprues, runners and gates and the casting plan and yield are remarkably improved. The rise of scum is made easy and the internal defects of the castings are decreased. The good castings are thus produced with high efficiency at a low cost.
