Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a long-time insertion type catheter which is used to relieve chronic pains and can easily be assembled and handled by forming an extra- dural catheter to be combined with a reinforcing sleeve having protective function which is mounted to the base end of the catheter elongated on an exposed part of the body of patient.
CONSTITUTION: A part of catheter device which is positioned outside the body of a patient, i.e., a base end passing an exposed part of body, is equipped with an extra-dural catheter 10, sleeve 12, and connector 18. The catheter 10 has a tube cavity, through which a pharmaceutical liquid is transported and introduced to the dura muter over cavity. The sleeve 12 has a tip and base end, and between them a passage, i.e., a hollow chamber 13, is formed. Adjacent to the tip of the sleeve 12, an advance chip 16 is installed, where a passage is formed. The sleeve 12 is furnished with a cuff 14, whose tip is in contact with the base of the chip 16, and the base end of the sleeve 12 is attached to the tip 19 of the connector 18.
