PURPOSE: To enable machining of favorable cylindricalness, by a method wherein a work to be ground is made to transfer in an axis direction of a rotary grinding wheel and a regulating wheel, an outlet guide on a regulating wheel side affecting finish cylindricalness mostly is eliminated and the regulating wheel is made to possess that function.
CONSTITUTION: A protrusion 14 in a transfering direction is formed and made rotatable by making a regulating wheel 2 protrude longer than a sphere constituted with a rotary grinding wheel 1 and the regulating wheel 2 and confronting with the grinding wheel 1 by a length L1 which is longer than a length l1 of a work 3. Guides 12 and 13 on an entrance side and a wheel 1 side guide 5 on an outlet side are components taking charge of a function of a regulating wheel side guide on the outlet side having the most important effect upon finish cylindricalness by an L1 part of the regulating wheel 2. With this construction, operation for obtaining accuracy (cylindricalness) by a variation of the diameter of the work 3 and dressing by the regulating wheel 2 is simplified. Thus, machining of favorable cylindricalness is made possible.
