Abstract:
To provide a ceramic back-up material for welding, the material that basically solves the occurrence of various flaws caused by a chemical composition and porosity of a conventional back-up material, in particular, dispenses with use of an organic waterproofing agent or a glaze, that has an extremely low void ratio (porosity) and a high moisture-proof/waterproof performance, and that enables a high-quality deposited metal to be obtained.
The ceramic back-up material for gas shielded arc welding has a chemical composition of, by weight, 30-55% SiO2, 30-50% Al2O3, 0.1-1.5% Fe2O3, 3-17% MgO and/or CaO, 0.8-5.0% Na2O and/or K2O, and 0.5-5.0% TiO2 and/or ZrO2, and has a porosity of ≤15%.
