PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character body-driving device and an alarm clock using it for preventing increase in size and achieving an interesting operation easily with simple structure.
SOLUTION: This alarm clock is provided with a clock device 4, a toothed wheel 33 that is rotated according to the rotation of a rotary shaft 361, a support 31 where the rotary shaft 361 of the toothed wheel 33 is supported, a character body 2 that is supported rotatably by the support 31 and accommodates the clock device 4 so that a display part 42 of the clock device 4 is arranged at a surface part, an inner gear tooth rack 32 that is regulated to specific length, and is disposed at a part of a front drum 22 of the character body 2 so that it mates with the toothed wheel 33 while being formed with a specific curvature, and a drive motor 36 for rotating the rotary shaft 361 of the toothed wheel 33 to one end part of the inner gear tooth rack 32 until the mating relationship at least between the toothed wheel 33 and the inner gear tooth rack 32 is cancelled according to the drive signal of the clock device 4.
