Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract and supply a desired character string to other applications only by indicating point on the desired character string on the screen of one application.
SOLUTION: A character string extraction system 3 inputs an output to be sent to the text output part 11A of an API(application interface) and supplies it to a window system 1, and also extracts a character string which meet specific conditions nearby a mouse cursor position from the inputted data and supplies it to a dictionary retrieval application 4 so that a WWW(worldwide web) browser 2 displays it on a display screen. A character string extraction system 3 writes an arbitrary image nearby a mouse cursor position on the display screen each time the mouse cursor stops for a specific time so as to extract a character string nearby the mouse cursor position at any time, thereby reoutputting text data nearby the mouse cursor position.
