To provide a charging method of a power supply system in which discharge electric energy can be prevented from becoming smaller than a specified value.
Reduction in capacity due to reduction in electrolyte during standby period is determined from the difference between a discharge curve when discharge takes places immediately after charging and a discharge curve under standby state. Increment or decrement in capacity due to variation in internal resistance incident to supplementary charging is determined from variation in capacity when standby and supplementary charging are repeated alternately. Reduction in capacity due to self discharge is determined based on the discharge curve under standby state, reduction in capacity due to reduction in electrolyte during standby period, and increment or decrement in capacity due to variation in internal resistance incident to supplementary charging. Charging timing is determined by the sum of reduction in capacity due to self discharge, reduction in capacity due to reduction in electrolyte during standby period, and increment or decrement in capacity due to variation in internal resistance incident to supplementary charging.
