To prepare a chart by achieving display with the high degree of freedom and a satisfactory response regardless of whether the amount of data is large or small based on data acquired from a database.
A function processing part 41 of a chart preparation device 1 returns data acquired based on the instruction content of functions input to a cell C on a work sheet A of spreadsheet software(add-in section 142a) to the cell C. A data processing part 43 acquires data designated by functions and whole time series data having codes forming the arguments of functions from a local database 143, and makes a data caching part 121 store the data. Arithmetic data acquired by executing a predetermined arithmetic operation to the data acquired from the local database 143 are stored in an arithmetic data caching part 122. When data designated by the functions are present in the data caching part 121 and the arithmetic data caching part 122, the data processing part 43 preferentially acquires those data.
