A choke device having a choke valve arranged in an intake flow channel of an engine and reducing a flow channel crosssectional area of an intake flow channel by changing from an opening state to a closing state is equipped with a choke valve opening movement delaying means generating a resisting force against a changing movement of the choke valve from the closing state to the opening state and delaying a time period when the opening state is established and has a cylindrical member 121 arranged in one of a fixing member and a turning member, a shaft-like member 110 arranged in the other one of the fixing member and the turning member and arranged substantially coaxially with a rotating axis of the turning member, and a friction applying member 122 which is formed protruding from an inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical member to an inner diameter side and of which a protruding end part slidably abuts on an outer peripheral surface of the shaft-like member, and which is arranged inclining in a radial direction of the cylindrical member, and is constituted such that the resisting force generated when the choke valve changes from the closing state to the opening state is large.
