To provide a choke device automating movements in a simple and inexpensive structure.
A choke device having a choke valve 13 arranged in an intake flow channel 11 of an engine has a traction member 22 fixed to a recoil rope 21 driving a recoil starter 20 for starting an engine, a traction force transmitting member 30 having a cylindrical part 31 into which the recoil rope is inserted, attachably and detachably attached to the traction member, moving in a traction direction along with the traction member in an early period of a traction stroke of the recoil rope, and separating from the traction member according to an increase of a traction quantity, choke valve drive mechanisms 50, 60, 70 changing the choke valve from an opening state to a closing state interlocking with the move of the traction force transmitting member in a traction direction, a biasing means biasing the choke valve in a direction changing from the opening state to the closing state, and choke valve opening move delaying means 110, 120 generating a resisting force against the changing movement of the choke valve from the closing state to the opening state by the biasing means and delaying a time period when the opening state is established.
