Abstract:

PURPOSE: To allow a person to hold a food bit by a left or right hand freely by tying a chopstick, by thinning the sticks gradually to the down parts, and applying patterns to the surfaces so that the nipped food bit does not slip off.

CONSTITUTION: Shanks 1 to be touched with the hand palm are made parallel so that no pain in given to the hand. The chopsticks are made thick so that it is easy to handle. Each shank 1 is thinned gradually toward the tip with a gentle curve 2, which is made for reducing the weight, providing easiness to nip a food bit, and generating a mild touch with the lips when the food is carried to the mouth. The patterns 3 applied to the chopstick tip should be reverse in the left and right pieces so that a left-handed person as well as a right-handed can handle chopsticks easily.
