Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a pseudo outline by correcting an output chrominance signal so as to keep either the gentle color change or the uniformity of an original picture based on the difference between the adjacent picture elements of the lightness signal of an input chrominance signal and the difference between the adjacent picture elements of the lightness signal of a temporary output chrominance signal. CONSTITUTION:An input lightness signal generating part 11 multiplies a signal Wn included in an input chrominance signal Xn by three and outputs the multiplied signal Wn as an input lightness signal WXn. A delay part 12 delays the input lightness signal WXn for one picture element and outputs a delayed input lightness signal WXn-1. On the other hand, an output lightness signal generating part 13 obtains the sum of three primary colors Rn', Gn' and Bn' included in a temporary output chrominance signal Zn' and performs an arithmetic operation for obtaining an output lightness signal WZn'. An output calculating part 20 corrects an output chrominance signal Zn, namely, an Rn, a Gn and a Bn, so that an expression WXn-WXn-1 (the difference between the adjacent picture elements of the input lightness signal)=WZn'-WZn-1' (the difference between the adjacent picture elements of the output lightness signal) can be satisfied all the time even when a sudden color change occurs by using the above- mentioned WXn-WXn-1 and WZn'-WZn-1'.
