Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent printing defects by surely discharging ink of which is thickened in a recording head.
SOLUTION: Recording heads 7, 8 are sealed with caps 12, 13, respectively and they are isolated with the open air. In this condition, negative pressures by suction pumps 14, 15 are exerted on the respective recording heads 7, 8 so that a first quantity of ink is sucked from the recording heads 7, 8. Next, the caps 12, 13 are communicated to the open air and the negative pressures of the suction pumps 14, 15 are exerted thereon, then ink in the caps is discharged. The recording heads are wiped by means of a wiping blade 17.
