Abstract:
To provide a circuit breaker which facilitates adjustment of a distance between an end of a bimetal and a trip bar.SOLUTION: A circuit breaker comprises: a first terminal and a second terminal; a bimetal including, in a length direction, a first end portion, and a second end portion which is an end at an opposite side of the first end portion; a heater for heating the second end portion with a current from a cable extending from the first terminal to the second terminal; and a trip mechanism which includes a trip bar opposed to the first end portion at a distance, and breaks down the cable when the second end portion is heated with the heater so as to bring the trip bar and the first end portion into contact with each other. When a temperature of the second end portion is lower than a threshold, the first end portion is not in contact with the trip bar, meanwhile, when the temperature exceeds the threshold, the distance between the first end portion and the trip bar decreases discontinuously so as to cause the first end portion to contact with the trip bar.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
