Abstract:
PURPOSE: To activate only a bus section actually used by separated bus structure and to prevent power consumption from being generated at a non-used bus by providing plural local buses and a switching means for connecting plural entire buses.
CONSTITUTION: The bus structure is composed of blocks, input/output control switches for controlling the data inputs/outputs of respective blocks, and control switches for controlling the connection of local and entire buses connected to these switches. The entire buses are disconnected by the control switches. When the transmission of information is to occur between the blocks, the respective switches form the relation of connection with the blocks requiring data and disconnect the paths with the other blocks unnecessitating the transmission so that the data put on the respective lines of buses can be selectively moved only between the required blocks. The respective switches are composed of CMOS transistors or bidirectional gate buffers.
