Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a simple high sensitivity circular dichoric analyser by allowing clockwise and counterclockwise circularly ploralezed lights to be incident on a cell housing a substance to be measured and detecting the intensities of respective transmitted waves.
SOLUTION: The light of a light source spectrally divided into S and R by a diffraction lattice and the polarizer 3 (9) and reader 4 in a light path S(R) are arranged in such a state that the plane of polarization of the polarizer 3(9) and the S-axis of the reader 4 are inclined at 45° to the left (right). Therefore, natural light S2 (R2) in S1 (R1) within the light path S(R) is inclined at 45° to the left (right) and this light transmits through the reader 4 to become counterclockwise (clockwise) circular polarized light to be transmitted through one (other) cell chamber of a cell 5. Photodetectors 6, 10 measures the intensities of the lights transmitted through the cell 5 and the ratio of the output signals of lights 6, 10 are calculated by an operator 11 to measure the circular dichromaticity of the substance in the cell 5.
