PURPOSE: To enable discrimination between AM and PM only with the recognition of time, by driving display elements sequentially to display time counted over 24hr.

CONSTITUTION: A clock signal generated with an oscillator 2 of a time counting circuit 1 is divided with a frequency divider 3 to output minute and hour information to a minute/hour information processing circuit 4. Then, minute and hour information being outputted in succession from the circuit 1 is counted with a counter 4a and a latch set signal is outputted sequentially to output terminals 41W46 per 10min. Then, outputs L1WL6 of a latch unit 5 composed of six latches drive corresponding LEDs 7W12 to display time for 1W2 AM, 2W3 PM... and 11W12 PM with a time display section TU. This enables the identifying of periods of time over 24hr, thereby allowing the discrimination between AM and PM only with the recognition of time.
