To provide a clutch release mechanism, which is easy to assemble with improved workability, has an extended offset allowable range, and is reduced in axial length.
The clutch release mechanism includes: a fixed cam plate 32 held by a case 30, the fixed cam plate including a cylindrical boss portion 31; a movable cam plate 40 which is supported by inserting the cylindrical boss to a cylindrical projection 41, and is rotated by a clutch arm 61; a ball unit 50 which is held on the fixed cam plate by a locking member 56; a release member 21 which transmits a thrust force generated by the relative rotation of the fixed cam plate and the movable cam plate across the ball unit to a loading plate 13 to release the engagement of a clutch; and a pressing member 42 which receives the thrust force from the movable cam plate and transmits it to the release member through a bearing. The pressing member has a hollow portion 45. The cylindrical projection of the movable cam plate is protruded toward the pressing member and fitted to the hollow portion with a gap 48 to press the pressing member so as to be relatively movable on a plane orthogonal to the pressing direction.
