Abstract:
To provide a drive clutch for automobiles which is passive and will not consume energy.
A friction clutch pack assembly uses a permanent magnet 266 and induction rings 268A, 268B for operating a ball lamp operating device. The ball lamp operating device is then made to engage with a friction clutch pack 290 and, e.g., transmits torque between a drive member 60' and a driven member 160' in a transfer case of an automobile. The permanent magnet 266 and the induction rings 268A, 268B synchronize the speeds of the two rotating members and are used as a synchronizer for facilitating direct connection, e.g., engagement of a dog clutch.
