Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a coating compsn. for a metal fastener capable of protecting the metal fastener and having a particular affinity for plaster materials and the like, which comprises a copolymer of an arom. monomer and a specified α,β-unsatd. monomer, a thermoplastic resin adhesive and an inert org. solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A coating compsn. for a metal fastener, which comprises a copolymer of an arom. monomer (e.g. styrene) and a monomer (e.g. maleic anhydride) having α,β-unsaturation due to a carboxyl group, a thermoplastic resin adhesive (e.g. polyvinyl acetate) and an inert org. solvent selected from the group consisting of aromatic solvents, ketones, chlorohydrocarbons and mixtures of them. For example, the metal fastener is immersed in the coating compsn. having a ratio of styrene monomer to maleic anhydride monomer in the copolymer of (1:1) to (3:1) in a tank and then the metal fastener thus coated is dried at about ambient temp.
