PURPOSE: To obtain an end face forming cutter which does not cause deterioration of a characteristic by constituting the cutter of a circular holder in which a coated optical fiber is allowed to pass through the center part, and a grip handle which is provided on one side of the holder and gives manually turning force to the cutter.

CONSTITUTION: The rotation surface can be formed to a vertical surface by containing it in a circular holder 6 provided with a clearance space in which a cutter 4 can be brought to eccentric rotation in the inside, and a coated optical fiber 1 whose periphery is pressed equally and fixed by a fixing means is allowed to pass through the center part and fixed. In this regard, by gripping a handle 7 provided on the holder 6, turning force can be given to the cutter 4. Since a cutting notch is provided without exposing an optical fiber 11, it does not occur either that the surface of the optical fiber 11 is contaminated by touching it, and by releasing the fixing means, the coated optical fiber 1 is removed, and bent and cut by the notch part. In such a way, an end face forming cutter which does not cause deterioration of a characteristic even after the connection is obtained.
