To provide a coating apparatus which prevents the accumulation of the aggregate of a coating solution in a manifold and eliminates the defective blurring of a coating surface which is apt to occur in an end part in the width direction.
In the coating apparatus using an extrusion style die head 10 having the manifold for spreading the coating solution fed from a liquid inlet in the width direction and a coating slit with the coating solution extruded from the manifold, respective relief lines 22 connected with a coating solution tank from the manifold 12 are connected to the side both end parts of the die head 10, and suck back means are installed each in the relief lines 22. When intermittent coating is done, by doing suction actions alternately or simultaneously in both end parts of the manifold 12, no aggregate is accumulated in the manifold to prevent the defective blurring of the coating surface which is apt to occur in the end part in the width direction of the die head 10.
