Title:
COHERENT MULTIWAVELENGTH SIGNAL GENERATOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3694638
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a design that matches with the performance specifications imposed on an optical transmitting section using the conventional semiconductor laser possible to be done, in a constitution in which multiwavelength light beams are generated using a multiwavelength light source and the optical spectral shapes of the multiwavelength light beams are made controllable.
SOLUTION: The optical spectral shapes of multiwavelength light beams are controlled to obtain a prescribed RIN or SNR required for the parameters of a transmission system (a kind of optical fiber, distance and the number or relay stages), concerning the relative strength noise RIN for an optical modulator input that modulates coherent light beams of each wavelength obtained by specrum slicing the multiwavelength light beams and the signal to noise ratio SNR for optical modulator output.
