PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil spring compression device for preventing the tilt of a coil spring in compressing the coil spring. SOLUTION: This device 10 has an elevating body 11 for elevatably supporting a shock absorber provided with a coil spring, a pair of clamp members 50 and 51 having plural claw parts 53 in a vertical direction movable in the diameter direction of the coil spring, and synchronized with each other oscillatable in vertically reverse directions; and a lock mechanism 14 for fixing the oscillation of the members 50 and 51. In the mechanism 14, in elevating the body 11 and the coil spring relative to the members 50 and 51, the oscillation of the members 50 and 51 is allowed until the claw parts 53 of the respective members 50 and 51 come into contact with the lower surface of the element wires of the respective coil springs, to lock the members 50 and 51 in a condition where the claw parts 53 of the respective members 50 and 51 contact the lower surfaces of the element wires of the respective coil springs.
