Title:
COIN DISCRIMINATING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3838688
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin discriminating device capable of applying data processing corresponding to the sort or the like of each coin to picture data obtained from the surface of the coin and quickly processing pattern discrimination.
SOLUTION: An optical sensor and a magnetic sensor in a 1st discrimination part 23 detect the outer diameter, passing position and material of a coin C in accordance with the carrying of the coin (ST11 to ST13). A 2nd discrimination part 24 specifies an area to be detected, threshold value and pattern detection judging reference data corresponding to the sort of the coin C detected by the 1st discrimination part 23 (ST14 to ST16), binarizes picture data in the specified area to be detected by the specified threshold value to extract a featured value and compares the extracted featured value with a specified judging reference value data to judge the pattern of the coin C (ST17). The sort of the coin C is synthetically judged based upon the judged results of the 1st and 2nd discrimination parts 23, 24 (ST18).
