To provide a money processing device and a money processing method that can complete a task of transferring coins to a cassette in a short time.SOLUTION: A coin processing device includes: a cassette mounting unit to which a cassette is removably attached; a coin supply unit that supplies coins to the cassette; and a control unit that causes the cassette to perform a first confirmation operation, which is an operation to confirm that coins remain in the cassette when the cassette attached to the cassette mounting unit does not meet predetermined conditions, and causes the coin supply unit to supply coins to the cassette without causing the cassette to perform the first confirmation operation when the cassette attached to the cassette mounting unit meets the predetermined conditions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
