To provide a cold-crucible melting furnace capable of producing a molten metal having high purity and effectively brought in a superheated state by suppressing the quantity of heat extracted to a furnace body.
This cold-crucible melting furnace 1 comprises: the furnace body 10 having a storage recess 10a for storing a metal to be molten W; a cooling means 20 for cooling the furnace body 10; and an induction heating coil 30 disposed at the outer peripheral side of the furnace body 10 and induction-heating the metal to be molten W stored in the storage recess 10a of the furnace body 10. At least a part of the inner surface 15 of the furnace body 10 which forms the storage recess 10a is covered with a heat damping member 40 formed of a refractory with a melting point higher than that of the metal to be molten W.
