To provide a collapsible book stand suitable for a music stand for a Japanese musical instrument, capable of securing the wide desk area and capable of being easily assembled and disassembled to be compactly stored.

The book stand is composed of a plurality of desk panels connected with hinges in such a way as foldable and stackable, a bar-like stopper body attached to one edge of the desk panels over the plurality of desk panels which are developed as one surface, and a leg body composed of a pair of members with a diagonal side part on which the desk panels are mounted and a projection projecting from the diagonal side part. The stopper body retains the desk panels in the developed state and projects on the surface of the desk panels to receive paper sheets mounted on the desk panels. The leg body is disposed openably/closably by connecting one side part adjacent to the diagonal side part of one member to one side part of the other member with a hinge.
