To provide a color cathode-ray tube having superior insulating properties, which is realized by preventing attaching of stray particles to its electron gun as few as possible because three cathodes in a color cathode-ray tube which employs an in-line type electron gun having cap-like first grids are fixed by each hermetic seal with crystallized glass, therefore, stray particles such as metals or electron emitting materials loosened from the cathodes attach on the surfaces of the crystallized glasses or outer surface of cathode holders, and deteriorate insulating properties among the cathodes or between each cathode and its first grid.
In this color cathode-ray tube, respective three cathode holders 27 is fixed in respective cap-like first grids G1 with respective hermetic seals 26, and the side end portion of the first grid G1 of the cathode holder 27 is disposed as to be touching or crossing with a virtual line which joins an edge point A on a circumference of each electron beam emitting surface of cathodes KB, KG and KR to the top portion B on the protruding side of beaded portion 25, or with an extension (b) of the virtual line (a).
