To provide a color filter suitable for being stuck to an organic EL (electroluminescent) element; and to provide a manufacturing method of an organic EL display element with excellent reliability and high contrast.
In this color filter (c), a black matrix 3 is formed on the organic EL layer 82 side on a transparent substrate 1 positioned in the light emitting direction (thickness direction) of the EL layer 82. A plurality of colored resin regions 4R, 4G and 4B are formed in openings 31 of the black matrix 3. On the black matrix 3, a spacer 6, a base B for supporting the spacer 6 and shading walls 61 are formed. In this case, since the height HW of each shading wall 61 from the transparent substrate 1 is smaller than the height HS of the spacer 6 from the transparent substrate 1, damage of the EL layer 82 can be restrained in sticking the color filter (c) to the organic element (e), and the organic EL display element (ed) with excellent reliability and high contrast can be realized.
