To obtain a color image forming apparatus which is compact as a whole such that it can be used in such a state that it is placed on a desk, without having to decrease the containing amount of a stacking part in which recording material after print is contained, even if a finisher is provided in an indirect transfer vertical conveying path system image forming apparatus.
In the indirect transfer vertical conveying path system image forming apparatus, the finisher (11) is disposed on one side surface of the apparatus body (10). The apparatus is provided with a second conveying path (P2) conveying the recording material on which the image has been fixed to the finisher, by making it pass between an image forming part (6) and the stacking part (5) from the middle of a first conveying path (P1), and a switching means (16) switching the first conveying path and the second conveying path, then it is provided with a transfer fixing means (4) for collectively transferring a superposed toner image from an intermediate transfer body (40) to the recording material and simultaneously fixing it by applying heat and pressure in the same nip, and the switching means is arranged on a lower side than the lowest point of the stacking part (5).
