The color image forming device forms a color image in a plurality of colors including black (K), an image forming sequence control means forms an image of K print (S3) in the case of first original scanning (S2), and in the case of discriminating it that a color image or a photographic image is included in an original by an original color identification means and an original kind identification means (S3/Yes), the image forming sequence of color components is succeedingly executed to form a copy image in a plurality of colors (S4), and in the case that the original includes only white black character images (S3/No), the image forming sequence is stopped and the device is controlled to form the copy image only in a black color K. Thus, both the black white photographic original and the color photographic original are reproduced in an excellent way in the case of using the ACs function without preliminary scanning.
