PURPOSE: To reduce the generation of a color mackling for an observe as seen from all directions by providing with the color filters of each colors overlapping each outer circumference ends of the color filters with each other.
CONSTITUTION: The whole surface comprising a surface of its side surface of the electrode pattern covers each picture element electrodes 3 formed on the upper substrate 1 with a curved surface, and the red, the green, and the blue color filters 6R', 6G' and 6B' are formed with overlapping each outer circumferences thereof. Thus, as the light transmitted the picture element electrode 3 passes in a forward direction through each color filters 6R', 6G' and 6B', the generation of the color mackling is nil in the display pattern displaied at the forward side of the upper substrate observing it from sideways. As the overlaped part O is formed by overlaping the outer circumference parts of each colors of the color filters 6R', 6G' and 6B' with each other, the transparency of the light reduces remarkably by compounding the colors of said part O. As the color mackling does not generate, the color display pattern having a high contrast is visible.
