Abstract:
To facilitate the mixing of fuel with air in a combustion chamber, and to improve the durability of a passage forming member.SOLUTION: A combustion chamber structure of an engine, is equipped with a combustion chamber 10, a fuel injection nozzle 8, and a passage forming member 20. The combustion chamber 10 is formed by a cylinder head 3, and a piston 1 in a cylinder of a cylinder block 2. The fuel injection nozzle 8 is provided on the cylinder head 3, has a tip end portion exposed to a combustion chamber 10, and is formed with an injection hole 8a injecting fuel into the combustion chamber 10 at the tip end portion. The passage forming member 20 is formed with a passage through which the fuel injected from the injection hole 8a of the fuel injection nozzle 8 passes. An outer peripheral surface of the passage forming member 20 abuts on a combustion chamber ceiling surface 3b of the cylinder head 3. A passage of the passage forming member 20 includes an expanding portion 22 gradually increasing a passage cross-sectional area from an upstream side to a downstream end of the passage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
