Title:
COMBUSTION CHAMBER OF ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03281936
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve fuel consumption performance and prevent deterioration of fuel consumption improving function by forming an insulative layer made of material of low heat conductivity on components such as rotor, piston composing a combustion chamber, and forming a covering layer which has a smooth surface and shows high heat conductivity together with low radiation heat absorption on the insulative layer.

CONSTITUTION: In a rotary piston engine 1, a rotor 6 is housed in a casing 2 composed of a rotor housing 3 and a side housing 4, and a top of the rotor 6 is in slidable contact to a trochoid inner spherical surface 3a to form three combustion chambers (operation chambers) 7. An upper silver-plated covering layer 13 and a lower ceramic insulative layer 12 are formed over the periphery of a rotor flank 6b composing the side of an inner peripheral surface of a combustion chamber 7 which include a recess 6c of the rotor 6. Radiation heat loss is reduced and convective heat transfer from the combustion gas is suppressed by the covering layer 13. Surface temperature of the covering layer 13 is increased and deterioration of fuel consumption improving function caused by carbon sludge under a low load is prevented by the insulative layer 12.
