Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion chamber construction utilizing recycled combustion gas to protect the combustion chamber construction and insulate heat.
SOLUTION: The combustion chamber has a vertical shape with an inner surface forming an inner combustion area. An afterburner 72 is disposed adjacent one end of a body of the combustion chamber so that flame extends into the combustion area 70 at a time of lighting. An annular insert 114 disposed in the combustion area 70 comprises a secondary gas introduction zone 116 so that recycled gas can be oxidized by the flame of the burner 72. The insert 114 has an inner surface provided with an opening 126 for communicating with a space between the secondary gas introduction zone 116 and the combustion area 70 and is introduced through rotational motion from the opening 126 to form a film of gases adjacent to the inner surface of the combustion chamber. The body of the combustion chamber includes an outer shell 22 and inner cylindrical liners 66, 68, and the inner liners 66, 68 are supported in a hanging fashion so that the liners 66, 68 can extend and contract at a time of being subjected to temperature variations.
