To provide a combustion device for a rod combustion body containing an alkaline metal, an alkaline earth metal, a metal such as copper showing flame reaction or a metal compound with no core, to keep on combustion in flames at a fixed position with a good appearance when put on a table or held in hand.

The rod combustion body 1 is inserted into a cylinder body 2 having a locking pawl 7 at the upper end extending to the inside. A spring 3 is provided for energizing the bottom thereof to the upper end. When the rod combustion body 1 becomes shorter with combustion, it is pushed upward by the spring 3 to keep on combustion in the state that it is always locked at its front end to the locking pawl 7 at the upper end of the cylinder body. In the case that the cylinder body 2 is set on a stand 5 put on a table, the rod combustion body 1 keeps on combustion in colored flames at a fixed height at all times through to completion with the cylinder body 2 on hand.
