To reduce the workload for acquiring information on arrangement of commodities displayed on a shelf.SOLUTION: A commodity information acquisition method includes: image acquisition processing of acquiring images of a shelf 13 captured by cameras 5, 7; information read processing of acquiring commodity identification information and identification information of a reference position by reading an image of a shelf tag C and an image of a position indicator M included in the captured image; position calculation processing of calculating a position of the shelf tag C on the basis of a positional relationship between the image of the shelf tag C and the image of the position indicator M in the captured image; and information storage processing of storing the commodity identification information, the position information of the shelf tag C, and the identification information of the reference position, in association with each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 16
