To provide a communication apparatus with a GPS function capable of more enhancing the convenience of a mobile phone using the GPS function, and to provide a communication method.

The communication apparatus includes: a map information storage means for storing map information; a location information acquiring means for acquiring location information; a map information check means for deciding whether or not map information corresponding to acquired location information is included in the map information; and a map information acquiring means for acquiring the map information corresponding to the acquired location information.
