To provide a communication terminal device that is connected to an external host such as a personal computer through a USB as a simple configuration.
This communication terminal device 20 is provided with a USB interface 21, a central processing unit (CPU) 22, a memory 23, a modem (MODEM) 24, an image reader 25, a paper feeding mechanism 26, a port 27 for a telephone line and a port 28 for a USB. The communication terminal device 20 is connected to a telephone line through the port 27 for a telephone line and to an external host 30 such as a note-book personal computer through the port 28 for a USB. The communication terminal device 20 is not provided with a telephone set nor a printer, a monitor of the external host 30 confirms image data received from the opposite party, and a printer 31 records the image data on recording paper if necessary.
