Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely transfer a current between a carbon brush and a commutator by providing a cleaning apparatus to the commutator for wiping out a part of an oxide layer formed on the commutator surface during the rotation of the commutator. SOLUTION: A cleaning apparatus 25 is provided between a carbon brush 15 and a carbon brush 16. The cleaning brush 27 of this cleaning apparatus 25 is formed as a carbon brush having a higher content of copper, held slidable in the axial direction within a brush guide 28, and then pressed for the loading to the surface of a commutator 10 with a brush spring 29. An oxide layer formed on the surface of the commutator 10 is partially worn to prevent the increase of the oxide layer exceeding a predetermined thickness in view of extending the operation life of the commutator 10 and the carbon brushes 15, 16 and improving the efficiency of the motor.
