PURPOSE: To increase heat efficiency of a complex power generating system by extracting CO from a forming gas by a CO absorbing unit, and using the extracted CO as fuel gas in a fuel cell.
CONSTITUTION: A forming gas produced in a gasifying furnace 26 performs heat exchange with water and steam in a waste heat boiler, and sulfur oxide in the gas is removed in a desulfurizer 12, and CO in the forming gas is separated in a CO absorbing unit 101, and the residual gas is exhausted from the chimny 15 to the atmosphere. In the CO absorbing unit 101, CO in the forming gas is absorbed in a fuel electrode solution 104 having monovalent copper. The absorbed CO forms a carbonyl complex to activate CO electrochemically and is consumed as a fuel for a fuel cell 103.
