To provide a complex structure containing a magnetocalorically active material which can be produced reliably with high cost efficiency, and a production method thereof.

The complex structure contains a plurality of inclusions of a magnetocalorically active material embedded in a base of a magnetocalorically non-active material, and the base has microstructure characteristics of sintered powder. The production method of the complex structure includes the steps for providing first powder containing the magnetocalorically active material, providing second powder containing the magnetocalorically non-active material, forming a powder mixture by mixing the first powder and the second powder, and forming a complex structure by compressing the powder mixture.
