To provide a composite body containing a semiconductor and having high efficiency of a catalytic reaction using energy of light, and to provide an optical functional material prepared by using the composite body, and a photocatalyst prepared by using the optical functional material.
The composite body is comprised from a coupling that semiconductor particles couple with an organic compound having a group that can couple with the semiconductor particles, via the above group. The semiconductor particles are obtained by heating semiconductor particles as a raw material under subcritical or supercritical hydrothermal conditions. The composite body is comprised from a coupling that polyhedral semiconductor particles having an average side length of 5 to 150 nm couple with an organic compound having a group that couples with the semiconductor particles or a metal complex including the organic compound as a ligand, via the above group. The optical functional material is prepared by using the composite body. The photocatalyst is prepared by using the optical functional material.
