Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure large surface compressive residual stress in an outer layer by forming an intermediate layer from an adamite type material and making the overall structure of the intermediate layer into a pearlitic structure.
SOLUTION: An intermediate layer is provided to prevent the deterioration in the material of an inner layer due to the intrusion of an alloy in an outer layer at the time of casting. In the case that a high speed steel type cast iron material is used for the outer layer, an adamite material can be suitably used for the intermediate layer in order to maintain high strength even if the large amounts of alloy components are intruded from the outer layer. The adamite material which accelerates the pearlitic transformation of the intermediate layer at the time of hardening of the outer layer and causes neither bainitic transformation nor martensitic transformation, is preferred as the adamite material. As such the adamite material, those having a composition consisting of, by weight, 1.0-2.5% C, 3.1-4.5% Si, 0.2-1.5% Mn, ≤4.0% Ni, ≤4.0% Cr, ≤4.0% Mo, 1.0-2.0% Co, ≤12.0%, in total, of one or more elements among W, V and Nb and the balance substantially Fe can be preferably cited.
